1) Lake County was established March 6, 1840. Deed and Mortgage Record BOOKS begin in 1840. These volumes combined to be the Official Public Record on January 3, 1983. Lake County Recorder Records Index Information is electronically available from 1986 through the AVA search engine on the website. Digital document images of available records are accessible from 1988 by email request or the search engines. Lake County Recorder public record requests can be emailed to: RecorderPublicRecordRequest@LakeCountyOhio.gov

2) At the Recorder’s Offices in Painesville, Ohio, records research can be done in the Records Room and archives area. Digital Records searching is available on several Public Computer stations on business days from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at no cost customers. Printing and copying are currently twenty-five cents per page. Ohio Revised Code requires $2.00 per page for record requests which need a Deputy Recorder to assist with the document copies.

3) There are various remote services in place to offer accessibility to records. AVA: The AVA search engine (Red Car Logo), contains the Lake County Recorder INDEX information. The record INDEX is electronically available from 1986.

LAREDO: Available document IMAGES can be accessed with the LAREDO SELECT (Laredo Logo) Search option. To use Laredo please complete the account request form and after your account is in place, then download the program from our vendor Fidlar Technologies at https://www.fidlar.com. Once you have a Laredo Select account, then in order to search with LAREDO ANYWHERE – the searchability can be expanded to your mobile digital devices such as cell phones. MONARCH: Available option which is an internet-streamed delivery service, available for bulk or high volume record request customers. MONARCH can be set up by direct contract for record delivery through customizing Fidlar agreement with the Lake County Recorder.
